County and external competitions that Nizels Ladies enter are listed here along here with a brief description and fixtures/results where available.  There are many other competitions that our ladies enter independently.

Bradley Cook

This is an inter-club Scratch Knockout competition.  The team consists of 5 ladies, usually the five members with the lowest handicaps in the club.  The format is singles match play, both home and away, with the winning team going through to the next round.  The Nizels Ladies Champion is invited to captain the team and Nizels' Bradley Cook Captain in 2008 will be Jenny Brown.  Along with the Captain, the following ladies  represented us in 2007: Jo Edgley, Nikki Jones, Gina Phillips, Jacky Houghton, Jenny Knight, Mary Bell, Janette Withey, Jackie Taylor.

The team did fantastically well in 2006 - reaching the finals at Littlestone Golf Club in September.  They met Sene Valley GC in the final who proved to be very tough opposition and won on the day.  In 2007 Nizels reached the quarter finals with a team depleted by illness and injury.

We await for the 2008 draw.

Pearson Trophy                    Link to the Pearson Website

This is a winter inter-county knockout trophy played between Kent, Surrey, Herts and Middx. A draw takes place each September and drawn teams play 3 Home and 3 Away fixtures. The group winners go forward to the knockout stages until the semi-finalists are found. The Semi-Finals and Finals are played on the same date in June.

The team consists of 7 players and the format is individual Matchplay. The handicap range is 15-32 inc. and each match is played in handicap order lowest to highest.  It is essential that those wishing to play in this competition are committed to their golf, enjoy the format, know the Rules of Golf – particularly pertaining to Matchplay, and are prepared to play in winter conditions.

We encourage players to join the squad thus gaining experience of Matchplay within the group and also benefiting from coaching sessions. We take our golf seriously and can be extremely competitive, but we also enjoy a great team spirit.

Our Team Captain is currently Laura Pickett and Vice-Captain, Jackie Taylor. The Captain/Vice may be non-playing.  Supporters are always welcome!

In 2007 the Nizels squad had a fantastic year and won the Kent trophy for the first time and went on to represent Kent in the Finals held at Hadley Wood GC in Hertfordshire.  We narrowly lost in the semi-finals in the morning 4-3 against the Surrey side but it was a great experience for the team.

This a national competition, sponsored by the Daily Mail, in which more than 3,500 clubs compete over 11 rounds.  It is considered one of the foremost amateur events.  The competition is open to men and women and, as the title suggests, the format is foursomes.  We hold a qualifying round, usually in August, to select the pair of ladies  who will represent Nizels in the following year's competition.  The final is usually held in October where the final 16 men's and women's team play the last four matches to compete for the title of Daily Mail Foursomes Champions.  The maximum handicap ladies may play off is 30 and the handicap allowance is 3/8ths the combined handicap of the pair.
