Slow Play
The main points to avoid slow play and to help keep play flowing:
- Always try to keep up with the group in front of you.
- If your group has lost a hole (in relation to the group in front of you), please take the opportunity to allow following players to play through if you cannot catch up with the players in front.
- If you have lost a ball, before you start looking check whether players are waiting behind you - this is the ideal time to let them play through.
- Equally, if you are offered the opportunity to play through please take it as, even if the pace of play does not trouble you, there may be groups behind you who would like to speed up.
- If you play a poor shot into the rough/bushes, always play a provisional immediately so that you do not have to walk back to play again when you cannot find the first shot particularly in the winter when your ball may have plugged.
- When arriving at the 10th you have priority, so tee off before those waiting on the 1st.
- It is important that you are on the Tee on time, it creates a real backlog when a player/players are late on the Tee - you should report to the starter (if on duty) 10 minutes before your tee time and always be on the 1st Tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time.
- Finally, If you like to play at a slower pace, sign up at a later time so that you can play your game in a relaxed manner without frustrating those behind you.
